Four Corners of the Earth
This display was set on the common in front of the flagpole, where one of the Memorial Day Ceremonies occurs. It reflects the four corners of the world that the armed forces came from. The pathways lead you to a center memorial poppy. The four petals reflect the different branches of the armed forces, the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force. The elevated center poppies remind us of the enormous loss of life on battlefields of France.
One of the pathways starts on Concord Rd, through a gateway formed by the flags that were donated to the town by WW1 veteran Oscar Peterson.
From this pathway visitors can stroll through the field of remembrance to the flagpole where the Memorial Day ceremony will commence.
